I'm one of the developers working on FeedOnFeeds-Redux, an open-source web-based (server-side) feed aggregator.
This past summer I and a couple fellow programmers entered the 2005 ICFP Programming Contest. We didn't win, but we submitted a pair of respectable entries written in Python.
I work for a university-affiliated research and development institution. I started 5 February 2001, and for the first several months I worked on software to predict geomagnetic activity. Why would that be important, you ask? Just look at the NOAA's Space Weather Scale to see what calamitous effects a geomagnetic storm can have on power systems and spacecraft operations.
My next project was working on software to control the X-ray spectrometer that currently rides along on MESSENGER, a spacecraft destined to orbit the planet Mercury.
Most recently I worked on software to manage the 1553 data bus aboard the New Horizons spacecraft, which will head to Pluto. I'm now testing the flight and ground software.
I've been helping restart the DC Linuxchix chapter recently.
I spent summer 2000 in Cleveland working at the NASA Glenn Research Center doing things in Fortran 77, C, and VRML.
Want to send me encrypted communication? Here's my PGP public key.
I've written and contributed to several programs for a Computer Graphics course using OpenGL, including a simple drawing program; an interactive simulation involving spiders, ants, and ice cream cones; a 3D spline surface editor; and a fun 3D maze! E-mail me if you're interested in any of the binaries. Do not e-mail me me if you're interested in the source code so you can pass it off as your own for an academic project.

Despite my inclusion of a geek code block, I'm still basically a wannabe[?] with little hope of entering the larval stage[?], due to persistent interests in other facets of life. Still, I'm working on it.
